• The high incidence of sickle-cell anemia in the black population and the attendant high mortality rate and cruel symptoms has led the Ministry of Health to introduce, under the Unified Health Service, a National Program for Integral Care of Patients with Sickle-cell Anemia and Other Forms of Hemoglobinopathy.
