  وساعدت اليونيسيف وزارة الصحة في توثيق التغطية الوبائية للاضطرابات الناجمة عن نقص اليود وأذاعت نتائج الدراسة ووضعت استجابات عملية تضمنت التوعية العامة بفوائد الملح المؤين والعمل بتكنولوجيات وتشريعات تتعلق ببيع الملح غير المؤين.
• Micronutrient deficiencies like of iodine deficiency disorder is on the verge of elimination. The 1996 IDD study “tracking progress towards sustainable elimination of IDD” revealed Total Goiter Rate (TGR) of 14%, Median Urinary Iodine level of 298 μ/L and iodated salt coverage of 82%.
  أما نواقص المغذيات الصغيرة مثل اضطراب نقص اليود فهي على وشك الإزالة ففي دراسة لعام 1966 عن نقص اليود بعنوان “رصد التقدم نحو القضاء المستدام على اضطرابات نقص اليود” تم الكشف عن معدل اضطراب الغدّة الدرقية الإجمالي الذي تبلغ نسبته 14 في المائة وعن متوسط مستوى اليود في البول لعدد 298 ونسبة التغطية بالملح المزود باليود وهي 82 في المائة.
