Most people are simply not aware of this. They think that this is a series of terrible isolated events occurring in Sudan, Bosnia or Ruanda. But that is wrong. In actual fact, genocide is facilitated by an indulgent international system.

The examples of Palestine and Ruanda-Urundi are instructive here in showing that the UN was convinced that for reasons of peace and security the territory in question should come to independence in a partitioned form and the UN proceeded to affirm this formally.
ولعل لمثالي فلسطين ورواندا بوروندي دلالة في هذا المقام إذ يبينان اقتناع الأمم المتحدة بأنه لأسباب السلم والأمن ينبغي أن يستقل الإقليم المعني في شكل مقسم وقامت الأمم المتحدة بتأكيد ذلك التقسيم رسميا.

She was chairman of the United Nations Commission for Ruanda-Urundi in 1962, Chairman of the United Nations Visiting Mission to the Trust Territory of the Pacific Islands in 1964, Vice-President of the Trusteeship Council in 1965 and President of the Trusteeship Council, the watchdog of the Trust Territories, in 1966.
وكانت رئيسة اللجنة التابعة للأمم المتحدة المعنية برواندا وبوروندي عام 1962، ورئيسة بعثة الأمم المتحدة الزائرة إلى إقليم جزر المحيط الهادئ المشمول بالوصاية عام 1964، ونائبة رئيس مجلس الوصاية عام 1965 ورئيسة مجلس الوصاية، وحارس الأقاليم المشمولة بالوصاية عام 1966.
