  وسورية، بوصفها دولة معنية مباشرة بما يجري في العراق، بسبب روابطها التاريخية والجغرافية، وانتمائها القومي المشترك مع الشعب العراقي، تؤكد أن المخرج من هذا الوضع الخطير لا يكمن في التركيز على معالجة موضوع فقدان الأمن في العراق، من خلال زيادة عدد القوات أو استخدام القوة لفرض الأمن، أو كيل الاتهامات لدول الجوار، بل يكمن في الالتزام الدولي بوحدة وسيادة الأراضي العراقية، وضرورة وضع جدول زمني واضح لانسحاب القوات المحتلة من العراق في أسرع وقت، وصياغة دستور يقبله العراقيون، وتشكيل حكومة ممثلة للشعب العراقي، على أن تقوم الأمم المتحدة في كل ذلك بدور محوري في العراق يشمل مختلف المجالات السياسية والأمنية والاقتصادية.
• We are convinced that a more representative and effective United Nations will strengthen the loyalty and commitment of Member States and make the Organization more responsive to the needs of our time.

Children are innocent creatures who should not bear the responsibilities of the past. They are the children of the future.
  إنني أدعوكم في إطار مسؤولياتنا الجماعية للإسهام في وضع حد لانتهاكات حقوق الإنسان ووقف نزيف الدم فوق الأراضي الفلسطينية المحتلة والسعي نحو حلول سلمية عادلة لتوفير حياة آمنة للأطفال دون النظر الى انتماءاته أو جنسياتهم، فالطفل في النهاية كيان واحد، هو ذلك المخلوق البريء الذي ينظر الى الحياة بالأمل، ولا يجوز أن يتحمل مسؤولية الماضي، فهو ابن المستقبل.
