Ms. Mahmuda Islam (Bangladesh), in response to questions on Bangladeshi women working outside the country, said that the Ministry of Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment was developing policies in that regard, in consultation with the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs.

(10) The Committee appreciates the efforts undertaken by the State party to promote and protect the rights of the large number of Syrian migrant workers and their families abroad, including through the establishment of a Ministry of Expatriates by legislative decree No. 21 of 2002 and the planned establishment of a new department for migrant workers in the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labour.
(10) وتعرب اللجنة عن تقديرها لما تبذله الدولة الطرف من جهود لتعزيز وحماية حقوق العدد الكبير من العمال المهاجرين السوريين وأسرهم في الخارج، بسبل منها إنشاء وزارة للمغتربين بموجب المرسوم التشريعي رقم 21 لعام 2002 والتخطيط لإنشاء مديرية جديدة تعنى بشؤون العمال المهاجرين في وزارة الشؤون الاجتماعية والعمل.

Noting that it was stated in the responses to the list of issues and questions (CEDAW/PSWG/2004/II/CRP.2) that the Ministry of Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment was working towards the formulation of a migration policy with a gender dimension, she asked who was participating in the process of guaranteeing the inclusion of the gender perspective so that a migrant woman from Bangladesh who had a job overseas was guaranteed the protection provided by the Convention.
وأشارت إلى ما جاء في الإجابات على قائمة المواضيع والمسائل المستفسر عنها (CEDAW/PSWG/2004/II/CRP.2) من أن وزارة رعاية المغتربين والعاملين في الخارج تعكف على وضع سياسة للهجرة ذات بعد جنساني، وسألت عن الجهات التي تشارك في عملية كفالة إدراج المنظور الجنساني لكي تُكْفل للمرأة البنغلاديشية العاملة في الخارج الحماية التي تنص عليها الاتفاقية.

In addition, Legislative Decree No. 21 of 2002 was enacted to establish the Ministry of Expatriates, which is tasked with serving the interests of Syrians throughout the world by looking after their affairs and concerns, providing them with means to communicate with all sectors in Syria, representing and defending them vis-à-vis local and international authorities, reviewing all the legislation relating to their interests, following up their complaints, facilitating all the procedures in regard to their visits to their home country, and informing them of the cultural and political situation in Syria.
ومن جهة أخرى صدر المرسوم التشريعي رقم 21 لعام 2002 متضمناً إحداث وزارة المغتربين مهمتها خدمة مصالح المغتربين السوريين في العالم وذلك من خلال العناية بشؤونهم واهتماماتهم وكذلك من خلال تزويدهم بقنوات الاتصال مع كل القطاعات في سورية. وتمثيل المغتربين والدفاع عنهم أمام السلطات المحلية أو العالمية، وإعادة النظر بكافة القوانين المتعلقة بمصالحهم ومتابعة شكواهم وكذلك تسهيل كل الإجراءات المتعلقة بزيارتهم لوطنهم، وإخبارهم بالوضع الحضاري والسياسي لبلدهم.

(و) مشروع رصد التلوث البيئي النفطي الناتج عن حرائق آبار النفط في الكويت خلال حرب الخليج الثانية، وهو مشروع يجري تنفيذه بالتعاون مع مديرية الأرصاد الجوية ووزارة الدولة لشؤون المغتربين.
