Among the treatment programmes offered at this unit is a genetic analysis programme. Genetic science is used to identify sick foetuses before they are returned to the mother, especially in families that suffer from genetic diseases, such as sickle cell anaemia, thalassemia, and other genetic disorders.
ومن ضمن البرامج العلاجية المقدمة في هذه الوحدة، برنامج التحاليل الوراثية، وعلم الموروثات في تحديد الأجنة المريضة قبل إرجاعها للأم وخاصة في العوائل التي تعاني من أمراض وراثية مثل الأنيميا المنجلية والثلاسيميا وغيرها من الإمراض الوراثية.
In fact, the State of Bahrain is a pioneer in the provision of such services, which include clinical examinations, laboratory analyses, counselling sessions and referral of patients at risk to hospital specialists. The home visit services are intended mainly for women and children, who constitute the categories most at risk. Prenuptial examination services are also provided for all persons planning to marry in order to reduce the incidence of hereditary blood diseases such as sickle cell anaemia and thalassemia.
أما بالنسبة لخدمة الزيارات المنزلية فهي تستهدف الفئات الأكثر عرضة للخطر من النساء والأطفال، هذا الى جانب توفير خدمات فحص ما قبل الزواج لجميع المقبلين على ذلك من أجل خفض معدل الإصابة بأمراض الدم الوراثية مثل فقر الدم المنجلي والثلاسيميا.
