• Since the Commission's last session, the Special Rapporteur has endeavoured to pursue his dual strategy against racism, discrimination and xenophobia: on the one hand a legal strategy aimed at extending and strengthening the legal and political responses to racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance, and on the other an intellectual and ethical strategy aimed at achieving a better understanding of the deep cultural roots of racism and its ideological, cultural and mental bases, processes and mechanisms.
  وخلال الفترة المنقضية منذ الدورة الأخيرة للجنة، سعى المقرر الخاص إلى متابعة استراتيجيته المزدوجة لمكافحة العنصرية والتمييز وكره الأجانب المتمثلة في: استراتيجية قانونية ترمي إلى توسيع ودعم الاستجابات القانونية والسياسية للعنصرية والتمييز العنصري وكره الأجانب وما يتصل بذلك من تعصب، واستراتيجية فكرية وأخلاقية تهدف إلى تحسين فهم الجذور الثقافية العميقة للعنصرية، وأسسها، ومراحلها، وآلياتها الإيديولوجية والثقافية والذهنية.
• Amending the labour laws, applicable to all places of employment, including industrial complexes, to explicitly prohibit employment of children under 18 in harmful or hazardous work; Ensuring that work performed by children as part of their schooling does not jeopardize their right to education and/or their physical and mental health; Improving monitoring mechanisms, including by strengthening the labour inspectorate, in order to enforce existing labour laws and protect children from economic exploitation; and Considering joining the International Labour Organization (ILO) with a view to ratifying ILO Conventions No. 182 (1999) concerning the Prohibition and Immediate Action for the Elimination of the Worst Forms of Child Labour and No. 138 (1973) concerning the Minimum Age for Admission to Employment.
