The experience of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), gained with implementation of forest projects in desertification-affected countries in Africa, suggests that the successful implementation of forestation projects depends on factors such as the use of different vegetation cover types, with crop and tree species selected by the local communities that will benefit from the project, consideration of locally adapted species, the protection of restored land and vegetative cover from the causes of their degradation, and the involvement of local people in project implementation.
وتشير خبرات منظمة الأمم المتحدة للأغذية والزراعة، المستفادة من تنفيذ مشاريع الغابات في البلدان المتضررة من التصحر في أفريقيا، إلى أن النجاح في تنفيذ مشاريع زراعة الغابات يعتمد على عوامل مثل استخدام مختلف أنواع الغطاء النباتي، مع أنواع المحاصيل والأشجار التي تختارها المجتمعات المحلية التي سوف تستفيد من المشروع، وإيلاء الاعتبار للأنواع المتكيفة محليا، وحماية الأرض المستصلحة والغطاء النباتي من أسباب تدهورهما، وإشراك السكان المحليين في تنفيذ المشروع.
