The General Assembly since 1993 has adopted resolutions on mine-related issues, first entitled “Assistance in mine clearance” and later “Assistance in mine action”, a term that encompasses mine clearance, mine awareness, victim assistance and globally effective advocacy.113 By those resolutions the Assembly called upon Member States to provide the necessary information and technical and material assistance to locate, remove, destroy or otherwise render ineffective minefields, mines, booby traps and other devices in accordance with international law, as soon as possible.
