It should be noted that the Government subsidizes staple food items (edible oils, flour, sugar, etc.) through funding from the budget. The Government has also been absorbing recent increases in oil prices, so as to prevent these increases from reverberating throughout the prices of consumer goods and thereby causing a negative impact on the standard of living.
وتجدر الإشارة إلى أن الحكومة تدعم السلع الضرورية (الزيت والدقيق والسكر وغيرها) من خلال صندوق الموازنة، كما تتحمل الزيادات التي تطرأ على أسعار النفط، حتى لا تنعكس على المواد الاستهلاكية وبالتالي مستوى المعيشة.
He noted that Egypt's growth rate in excess of 5 percent, since 2004, had enabled the government to generate 750 thousand jobs per year, undertake ambitious safety nets for the poor and to subsidize energy and food items in the order of 40 and 30 billion Egyptian pounds, respectively, per annum.
