• Kuwait was ahead of schedule in its efforts to achieve all eight of the Millennium Development Goals, and, although a developing country itself, had disbursed over US$ 12.5 million in development assistance to 101 countries through the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED).

• The Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) has contributed to the alleviation of the external debt burden for 14 African countries within the framework of the Highly Indebted Poor Countries (HIPC) Debt Initiative. The debts owed to the Fund by these countries were reduced by rescheduling them over a period of 40 years, including a 16-year grace period, with interest rates ranging from 0.5 per cent to 2 per cent. These terms were considered more attractive and easier to meet than the initial terms for those loans.
  لقد ساهم الصندوق الكويتي للتنمية الاقتصادية في تخفيف عبء المديونية الخارجية عن أربع عشرة دولة أفريقية في إطار المبادرة المتعلقة بالبلدان الفقيرة المثقلة بالديون، حيث تم خفض عبء المديونية المستحقة تجاه الصندوق لهذه الدول من خلال إعادة جدولة تلك الديون على فترة 40 عاما، منها فترة سماح قدرها 16 عاما، وبأسعار فائدة تتراوح بين 0.5 في المائة و 2 في المائة، وهي شروط أكثر تيسيرا من الشروط الأصلية لتلك القروض.
• Kuwait can say with pride that it has abided by all of its international obligations and that, through KFAED, it continues to contribute to economic development programmes in developing countries. This Fund has granted development loans in the amount of $12 billion to more than 100 countries around the world, 40 per cent of which are in Africa. As a percentage of its gross national product (GNP), overall average Kuwaiti official development assistance is equal to nearly twice the agreed United Nations target of 0.7 per cent of the GNP of developed countries.
  وتفتخر الكويت بتنفيذ جميع التزاماتها الدولية ومواصلة إسهاماتها في دعم برامج التنمية الاقتصادية للدول النامية عن طريق الصندوق الكويتي للتنمية الاقتصادية الذي قدم قروضا إنمائية تصل إلى 12 مليار دولار استفادت منها أكثر من مائة دولة في مختلف مناطق العالم، 40 في المائة منها دول أفريقية، حيث أن المتوسط العام للمساعدات الإنمائية الرسمية التي تقدمها دولة الكويت كنسبة من دخلها القومي يساوي حوالي ضعف النسبة التي حددتها الأمم المتحدة، والتي تبلغ 0.7 في المائة من الدخل القومي للبلدان المتقدمة النمو.
