• The United States of America, through the Regional Centre for Southern Africa of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) provided development assistance in the following areas: support in trade facilitation (transportation, customs and free trade agreements), electricity, information and communication technology, competition policy support, sanitary and phytosanitary issues, water resources and provision of support to programmes directed at strengthening democratic institutions in SADC countries.

• The Dialogue Forum has played an important role in consolidating and facilitating interregional South-South cooperation, as reflected in its unanimous support for the establishment of a working group to implement the proposed India-MERCOSUR-South African Customs Union Trilateral Free Trade Agreement at the Forum's first summit meeting.
  وكان منتدى الحوار قد اضطلع بدور هام في ترسيخ وتسهيل التعاون الأقاليمي فيما بين بلدان الجنوب، على نحو ما يتضح من إجماع أعضائه على تأييد إنشاء فريق عامل لتنفيذ الاتفاق الثلاثي لتحرير التجارة بين الهند والسوق المشتركة لبلدان المخروط الجنوبي والإتحاد الجمركي للجنوب الأفريقي المقترح عقده بينها.
