• As members are well aware, the tsetse fly and the trypanosomosis disease which it transmits are a major transboundary problem in Africa and one of the greatest constraints on the continent's socio-economic development, affecting the health of humans and livestock, limiting land use and causing increased poverty.
  وكما يدرك الأعضاء جيدا، تمثل ذبابة التسي تسي وداء المثقبيات الذي تنقله إحدى المشاكل الكبرى العابرة للحدود في أفريقيا وواحدا من أكبر العوائق التي تحول دون التنمية الاجتماعية - الاقتصادية للقارة، مما يؤثر في صحة البشر والماشية، ويحد من الاستفادة بالأراضي، ويسبب زيادة في الفقر.
• Regarding the tsetse fly and the trypanosomiasis disease it transmits, my country supports the IAEA's activities aimed at the eradication or control of the tsetse fly through the use of the Sterile Insect Technique (SIT). We appreciate its continued support to African member States in their efforts to build national capabilities and further develop techniques for applying SIT in the creation of tsetse-free zones.
  وبخصوص ذبابة التسي تسي ومرض المثقبيات الذي تنقله، يؤيد بلدي الأنشطة التي تقوم بها الوكالة الدولية للطاقة الذرية بهدف القضاء على هذه الذبابة والسيطرة عليها باستخدام تقنيات التعقيم المضاد لهذه الحشرة، ويقدر دعمها المتواصل للدول الأعضاء الأفريقية في الجهود التي تبذلها لبناء قدرات وطنية وتطبيق تقنيات التعقيم المضاد لهذه الحشرة على نطاق أوسع في إنشاء مناطق خالية من ذبابة التسي تسي.
