Most Members States replying to the questionnaire had plans for the development of skills in crime prevention.

The majority of Member States that replied to the questionnaire are planning to observe the International Day.

In addition, ESCWA has provided technical expertise and guidance to Yemen and the Syrian Arab Republic on questions related to economic activity and disability which were included in questionnaires for population censuses planned for 2004.

At the meeting on the return of refugees and internally displaced persons, the parties expressed support for the documents prepared by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), which included a draft questionnaire and plan for a verification and registration of returnees in the Gali district, as well as the paper on strategic directions for activities in confidence-building in the context of returns.

However, the authors were of the view that, in light of the planned questionnaire to be sent to Governments and other relevant bodies and agencies, it was premature to attempt deep analyses of the contents of these documents and to propose a set of draft principles and guidelines in this preliminary report.

Responses for part VI of the biennial questionnaire, on the Action Plan on International Cooperation on the Eradication of Illicit Drug Crops and on Alternative Development, were submitted by 112 States for the second reporting cycle, more than double the number of responses received for the first reporting cycle.

While some felt that action plans and questionnaires should be prepared and administered by the Secretariat on priority aspects of the Declaration, the view was also expressed that the issuing of further questionnaires for completion by Member States would result in low response rates and, in turn, limit their value in analysing global efforts by Member States.

Part VI of the third biennial reports questionnaire, on the Action Plan, elicited 90 responses from States, compared with the 112 in the second reporting period (2000-2002), still more than double the responses received in the first period (1998-2000).

FAO participated in a training workshop to support the information-sharing mechanism of the Global Plan of Action to collect data on the plant genetic resources for food and agriculture. FAO provided technical support in the development of a gender-sensitive questionnaire for the Global Plan of Action.
