This work might entail: Analysing available methods and tools (e.g. those in the UNFCCC Compendium); Making available information on existing methods and tools that can be modified for climate change adaptation (e.g. community planning tools such as Strategic Environmental Assessment and Environmental Impact Assessment, and water conservation tools); Providing guidance on when to use which method or tool, emphasizing the usefulness of the application of specific methods and tools for different areas and types of assessment; Adopting a tiered approach (i.e. simple, medium and sophisticated approaches); Establishing mechanisms to enable intercomparison of methods and tools; Promoting the use of common methods and tools, with a view to standardizing assessments and reducing misinterpretation; Establish, support and strengthen user networks and centres of excellence and encourage them to share expertise and experiences in the application of methods and tools.
