And do not think Allah to be heedless of what the unjust do ; He only respites them to a day on which the eyes shall be fixedly open ,
« ولا تحسبن الله غافلا عما يعمل الظالمون » الكافرين من أهل مكة « إنما يؤخرهم » بلا عذاب « ليوم تشخص فيه الأبصار » لهول ما ترى يقال شخص بصر فلان أي فتحه فلم يغمضه .
And do not think Allah to be heedless of what the unjust do ; He only respites them to a day on which the eyes shall be fixedly open ,
ولا تحسبن -أيها الرسول- أن الله غافل عما يعمله الظالمون : من التكذيب بك وبغيرك من الرسل ، وإيذاء المؤمنين وغير ذلك من المعاصي ، إنما يؤخِّرُ عقابهم ليوم شديد ترتفع فيه عيونهم ولا تَغْمَض ؛ مِن هول ما تراه . وفي هذا تسلية لرسول الله محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم .
And remember your Lord within yourself humbly and fearing and in a voice not loud in the morning and the evening and be not of the heedless ones .
« واذكر ربَّك في نفسك » أي سرا « تضرُّعا » تدللا « وخيفة » خوفا منه « و » فوق السر « دون الجهر من القول » أي قصدا بينهما « بالغدو والآصال » أوائل النهار وأواخره « ولا تكن من الغافلين » عن ذكر الله .
Remember your Lord deep in your very soul , in all humility and awe , without raising your voice , morning and evening , do not be one of the heedless ,
« واذكر ربَّك في نفسك » أي سرا « تضرُّعا » تدللا « وخيفة » خوفا منه « و » فوق السر « دون الجهر من القول » أي قصدا بينهما « بالغدو والآصال » أوائل النهار وأواخره « ولا تكن من الغافلين » عن ذكر الله .
( It will be said : ) " Thou wast heedless of this ; now have We removed thy veil , and sharp is thy sight this Day ! "
« لقد كنت » في الدنيا « في غفلة من هذا » النازل بك اليوم « فكشفنا عنك غطاءك » أزلنا غفلتك بما تشاهده اليوم « فبصرُك اليوم حديد » حاد تدرك به ما أنكرته في الدنيا .
And remember your Lord within yourself humbly and fearing and in a voice not loud in the morning and the evening and be not of the heedless ones .
واذكر -أيها الرسول- ربك في نفسك تخشعًا وتواضعًا لله خائفًا وجل القلب منه ، وادعه متوسطًا بين الجهر والمخافتة في أول النهار وآخره ، ولا تكن من الذين يَغْفُلون عن ذكر الله ، ويلهون عنه في سائر أوقاتهم .
Remember your Lord deep in your very soul , in all humility and awe , without raising your voice , morning and evening , do not be one of the heedless ,
واذكر -أيها الرسول- ربك في نفسك تخشعًا وتواضعًا لله خائفًا وجل القلب منه ، وادعه متوسطًا بين الجهر والمخافتة في أول النهار وآخره ، ولا تكن من الذين يَغْفُلون عن ذكر الله ، ويلهون عنه في سائر أوقاتهم .
( It will be said : ) " Thou wast heedless of this ; now have We removed thy veil , and sharp is thy sight this Day ! "
لقد كنت في غفلة من هذا الذي عاينت اليوم أيها الإنسان ، فكشفنا عنك غطاءك الذي غطَّى قلبك ، فزالت الغفلة عنك ، فبصرك اليوم فيما تشهد قوي شديد .
And when you are among them, (and) so keep up the prayer for them, then let a section of them be upright with you, and let them take their weapons (i.e., to defend those who pray and to face the enemy) So, when they have prostrated themselves, (i.e., finished their prayer) then let them be in your rear-guard; and let another section who have not prayed come up (and) so let them pray with you, and let them take their wary (precautions) and their weapons. The ones who have disbelieved would like you to be heedless of your weapons and your belongings, then they would incline (Or: be hostile to) against you once for all. (Literally: in one inclining; or in one hostility) And there is no fault in you, in case you are hurt by rain or you are sick, to lay aside your weapons and take your wary (precautions). Surely Allah has prepared for the disbelievers a degrading torment.
وإذا كنت فيهم فأقمت لهم الصلاة فلتقم طائفة منهم معك وليأخذوا أسلحتهم فإذا سجدوا فليكونوا من ورائكم ولتأت طائفة أخرى لم يصلوا فليصلوا معك وليأخذوا حذرهم وأسلحتهم ود الذين كفروا لو تغفلون عن أسلحتكم وأمتعتكم فيميلون عليكم ميلة واحدة ولا جناح عليكم إن كان بكم أذى من مطر أو كنتم مرضى أن تضعوا أسلحتكم وخذوا حذركم إن الله أعد للكافرين عذابا مهينا
Remember your Lord deep within yourselves , humbly and privately - instead of shouting out loud - ( in prayer ) in the mornings and evenings and do not be of the heedless ones .
واذكر -أيها الرسول- ربك في نفسك تخشعًا وتواضعًا لله خائفًا وجل القلب منه ، وادعه متوسطًا بين الجهر والمخافتة في أول النهار وآخره ، ولا تكن من الذين يَغْفُلون عن ذكر الله ، ويلهون عنه في سائر أوقاتهم .
