The CITI project has contributed greatly to the establishment of information technology infrastructure at the UNRWA vocational training centres; the improvement of curriculum through the introduction of new market-relevant information technology courses and components; the introduction of an international certification programme in the field of information technology, such as CISCO and the International Computer Driving License (ICDL); the establishment of 8 CISCO academies and 8 ICDL training and testing centres in the Agency's five fields of operations; and the successful introduction of the CISCO Networking Academy Programme (CNAP) in Lebanon.

The CITI project phase five (1 September 2003- 31 August 2004) covers a wide range of objectives designed to support the upgrading of human resources, facilities and operational practices at the vocational training centres as well as the running of ICDL and CNAP programmes.

At the invitation of Ramesh Nath Pandey, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Nepal, a meeting of Foreign Ministers and representatives of member countries of the International Committee for the Development of Lumbini (ICDL), comprising Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Japan, the Lao People's Democratic Republic, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, the Republic of Korea, Singapore, Sri Lanka and Thailand, was held on 16 September 2005 at United Nations Headquarters, on the sidelines of the High-level Plenary Meeting of the General Assembly.
بناء على دعوة من معالي السيد راميش ناث باندي، وزير خارجية مملكة نيبال، عقد اجتماع وزراء خارجية وممثلي البلدان الأعضاء في اللجنة الدولية لتنمية لومبيني المؤلفة من: أفغانستان وإندونيسيا وباكستان وبنغلاديش وبوتان وتايلند وجمهورية كوريا وجمهورية لاو الديمقراطية الشعبية وسري لانكا وسنغافورة وكمبوديا وماليزيا وميانمار ونيبال والهند واليابان، وذلك في 16 أيلول/سبتمبر 2005 بمقر الأمم المتحدة، على هامش الاجتماع العام الرفيع المستوى للجمعية العامة.
