Yet such reductionism lies behind one of today’s dominantconcepts, multiculturalism, according to which one of ouridentities must prevail above all others, serving as the solecriterion for organizing society into distinct groups.

Such reductionism precludes defining education in terms of the full development of the human personality, frustrating the creation of foundations for human rights education by teaching learners to share knowledge rather than trade it, and to cooperate rather than to compete.
