condition of “effective control” - maintaining that it is inconsonant with both logic and law. The ICTY Appeals Chamber said:

They express their total rejection of the United States excuses, inasmuch as this position is absolutely inconsonant with the responsibility of the United States of America as a sponsor of the peace process and a permanent member of the Security Council, bearing special responsibility with regard to the maintenance of international peace and security.

Furthermore, the sponsor delegation noted that Security Council reform would be incomplete without the removal of the requirement for the concurring votes of the permanent members of the Council, which was unjustifiable under, and inconsonant with, the principles of justice, equality and democracy.

To call upon the Iranian Government once again to put an end to its occupation of the three islands belonging to the United Arab Emirates, to desist from imposing the status quo by force, to halt the erection of any installations there with a view to changing their demographic and civilizational composition, to rescind all measures and remove all installations enacted or installed unilaterally in the three islands, inasmuch as they are inconsonant with the provisions of international law and the Geneva Convention of 1949 and to pursue peaceful means for resolving the dispute in accordance with the principles and norms of international law, including acceptance of referral of the case to the International Court of Justice;
