Taking into account these ecosystem considerations, UNEP will work to ensure that the full hydrological cycle (including superficial water recharge) within each hydrological basin is taken into consideration in environmental assessment and management plans.

(i) Collaborating with ESA in carrying out a project in Africa on the development of an information system for determining, monitoring and assessing flood areas and compiling an inventory of superficial waters in the Nakambé river basin of Burkina Faso;

(i) Collaborating with ESA in carrying out a project in Africa on the development of an information system for determining, monitoring and assessing flood areas and compiling an inventory of superficial waters in the Nakambé river basin of Burkina Faso;
(ط) التعاون في العمل مع وكالة الفضاء الأوروبية على تنفيذ مشروع في أفريقيا لاستحداث نظام للمعلومات يمكّن من تحديد مناطق الفيضانات ورصدها وتقديرها، وعلى وضع قائمة حصرية بالمياه السطحية في حوض نهر ناكامبي في بوركينا فاسو؛
The project in Africa on the development of an information system for determining, monitoring and assessing flood areas together with the establishment of an inventory of superficial waters in the Nakambé river basin of Burkina Faso will be supported by the Programme and ESA in 2003.
وسوف يدعم البرنامج والإيسا في عام 2003 المشروع الذي سينفذ في أفريقيا بشأن إنشاء نظام للمعلومات من أجل تحديد ورصد وتقدير المساحات المغمورة بالفيضانات، إضافة إلى إنشاء قائمة بجرد مواقع وكميات المياه السطحية في حوض نهر ناكامبـي في بوركينا فاصو.
The Committee also noted that the Programme, in cooperation with ESA, would support in 2003 a pilot project in Africa on the development of an information system for determining, monitoring and assessing African flood areas together with the establishment of an inventory of superficial waters in the Nakambé river basin in Burkina Faso.

A project in Africa on the development of an information system for determining, monitoring and assessing flood areas together with establishing an inventory of superficial waters in the Nakambé river basin of Burkina Faso and a project in Latin America on the use of C-band synthetic aperture radar (SAR) and optical data to monitor glaciers and snow cover for optimization of water supply predictive models, study of climatic changes and natural hazards will be continued through the year 2002.

(d) Collaborating with ESA and the Department of Economic and Social Affairs of the Secretariat in providing technical assistance and expertise required for the joint United Nations/ESA follow-up programme on the use of remote sensing technology in sustainable development, which supports a project in Africa to develop an information system for determining, monitoring and assessing flood areas and to establish an inventory of superficial waters in the Nakambé river basin of Burkina Faso;

Having concluded, in 2002, a follow-up project in Asia and the Pacific (Viet Nam) and another one in 2003 in Latin America and the Caribbean (Argentina, Bolivia and Chile), the Programme and ESA are carrying out a project in Africa on the development of an information system for determining, monitoring and assessing flood areas, together with the establishment of an inventory of superficial waters in the Nakambé river basin of Burkina Faso.
