FIRDOS is a non-profit organization established in July 2001 under the distinguished patronage of Ms. Asmaa al-Assad, the wife of the President of the Republic.

Among the civilians killed were five members of one family in Khan Younis, including a mother, Karima Fayyad, her daughter, Asmaa' Hamdan Fayyad, her two sons, Sami and Ahmad Hamdan Fayyad, and her nephew Mohammad Khodair Fayyad.

The authors of the communication, initially dated 12 June 2006, are Kasem Said Ahmad and Asmaa Abdol-Hamid, both Danish nationals, born on 26 September 1960 and 22 November 1981, respectively.

(b) In February 1999 the station's cameras, in the company of “young journalists”, made three separate visits to the Institute of the Blind at Temara, to the House of the Child at Sale (a charity project) and the House of the Child at Akkari, and to the Lalla Asmaa Foundation for the Deaf and Mute in Rabat.

The National Conference on Children was held in the city of Aleppo on 8 and 9 February 2004, under the distinguished patronage of Asmaa al-Assad, the wife of the President of the Republic. The main themes discussed at the Conference were violence against children, the sexual exploitation of children, child labour and juvenile delinquency;

Accordingly, the Government has embarked upon an ambitious plan to cooperate with civil society institutions in an serious effort to enlist their participation in the development process, especially as it affects children and women, by making the necessary facilities available to those institutions. This plan is proceeding under the personal patronage of Ms. Asmaa al-Assad, the wife of the President of the Republic;

The National Conference on Children in the SAR was held in the city of Aleppo on 8 and 9 February 2004, under the distinguished patronage of Asmaa al-Assad, the wife of the President of the Republic. The Conference discussed all issues relating to children and childhood, and numerous studies and scientific papers dealing with these subjects were presented. The Conference was covered intensively by the media, with the result that its recommendations relating to children's issues, notably violence against children and all forms of exploitation of children, were widely publicized.
