Three cases are in the investigation stage and have not been disposed of to date.

It is worth mentioning that according to the Act of the Ratification of the Basel Convention on the Control of Transboundary Movements of Hazardous Wastes and Their Disposal dated 1992, the Organization for the Protection of the Environment of the Islamic Republic of Iran is the responsible body to implement the Basel Convention.

With regard to claims files, the Council noted that the second option presented by the secretariat would result in a more efficient and cost-effective process for the disposal of documents, and accordingly that the secretariat will proceed as follows. First, the approximately 160,000 original category C and some category A and B claim files of the Government of Kuwait will be returned to Kuwait in accordance with its request, and subject to a number of conditions. Second, the secretariat will retrieve and separate the approximately 40,000 category C claim files with a disposal date during the years 2009 to 2014 for disposal at the scheduled time.

(c) At UNMIK, the Board identified the long lead time between the “actual written-off date” (date approved for write-off) and the “archiving date” (date disposed and removed from active inventory list) on the disposal list of non-expendable properties;

Mr. Prendergast: During the last briefing on Bougainville, on 29 August, the Council was informed of progress achieved in implementing stages I and II of the weapons disposal plan, the target dates for which were 31 August and 30 September, respectively.

In this regard, the Panel considers that the JABs and JDCs should proceed with all current matters and all matters filed until 1 January 2008, but that matters not disposed of by that date should be transferred to the Dispute Tribunal to be determined in accordance with the pleadings as filed and such further pleadings as may be directed.

In addition, it is proposed that the section be strengthened through the establishment of one Material and Asset Assistant Manager (Field Service) post, who will maintain and monitor the condition of medical equipment; be responsible for record keeping and inventory of medical items, while assuring an effective management of medical requisitions; be responsible for the control of medical assets in the level-I Plus hospital, the warehouses in Abidjan, and in both level-I facilities in the two regional field offices; and manage the medical stock, ensuring that all medications are consumed or disposed of before expiration dates.

Information on the movement document should include the following information: exporter of the wastes; generator of the wastes and site of generation; disposer of the wastes and site of disposal; carrier of the wastes; indications on whether the movement is the subject of a general or single notification; date the transboundary movement started and date and signature of receipt by each person who takes charge of the wastes; means of transport including countries of export, transit and import, and point of entry and exit where these have been designated; general description of the wastes (physical state, proper United Nations shipping name and class, United Nations number, Y number and H number as applicable); information on special handling requirements and emergency provisions; type and number of packages; quantity in weight and volume; declaration by the generator or exporter that the information is correct; declaration by the generator or exporter indicating no objection from competent authorities of all States concerned; certification by disposer of receipt at designated disposal facility and indication of method of disposal and of approximate date of disposal.
