(b) “Purchase money security right” means a security right in an asset that secures the credit extended as the purchase price of the asset or other obligation incurred to acquire the asset.

Economically, a retention-of-title arrangement provides a security right that is particularly well adapted to the needs of sellers in securing credit extended for the purchase price of goods.
