In terms of administrative arrangements, the Territory's Ministry of Tourism and Transport, consisting of eight departments, is responsible for land, sea and air transportation, including public bus and ferry service, private transportation oversight (public service and community service vehicles), marine navigation, air operations, motor vehicle licensing and registration and civil aviation and maritime administration.

With the latest so-called proposal, which includes the circulation of public-service vehicles owned by Turkish Cypriots and the facilitation of the movement of goods as well as development of contacts and economic relations between the two sides, we have witnessed, once again, the intention of the Greek Cypriot administration to extend its illegal authority to the Turkish Cypriot side as well as to continue holding our economic development hostage to its political considerations, confirming the major reason behind the resounding “no”, which was to “upgrade and shield politically the Republic of Cyprus”, as in Mr. Papadopoulos' own words in his address to the Greek Cypriot people on 7 April 2004, prior to the referendums.
