Following Ms. Hitzfeld's presentation, one representative noted that chrysotile asbestos was widely used in some developing countries in low-cost housing, insulation of water pipes and brake linings, and said that when embedded in cement it did not pose a hazard to human health, unlike other uses that precipitated regulatory actions in developed countries.
