9 SAPRIN is an international civil society organization that recently completed a three-year review of the experience of structural adjustment programmes that included four country studies in Africa.

In a recent publication, the Structural Adjustment Participatory Review International Newtwork (SAPRIN) recalls the agreement of the President of the World Bank to engage civil society in a field analysis of the effects of SAPs, in particular the impact of economic reform on poverty reduction and income differentials, with a view to facilitating the understanding of poverty creation and reduction.

The Structural Adjustment Participatory Review International Network (SAPRIN)9, after a four-year process of consultation and research, concluded that the intransigence of international policy makers as they continue their prescription of structural adjustment policies is responsible for expanding poverty, inequality and insecurity around the world.

The starting point of this dialogue should be an agreement to discuss and debate the research results on the economic and social impact of structural adjustment gathered from 10 country case studies, most of which were carried out jointly with the World Bank under an initiative known as the Structural Adjustment Participatory Review International Network (SAPRIN).
