To ensure that countries procure high quality medicines, WHO has established a prequalification scheme for both antimalarials and rapid diagnostic tests with quality assurance laboratories in various regions and is supporting countries to develop a functional network of diagnostic services; a quality assurance system for both microscopy and rapid diagnostic tests; and assessment and training services for microscopists.
