(b) Claim 3 - Cold Store Contract

There is a cold store over the back.

It did not submit a copy of the actual Cold Store Contract.

IE Contractors entered into a contract with the General Establishment for Engineering and Projects, Ministry of Trade of Iraq (“GEEP”) on 24 December 1977 to build cold stores in Kut, Kirkuk, and Mosul in Iraq (the “Cold Store Contract').

Most of the existing cold stores are not functional, and the number of available refrigerated trucks is insufficient.

IE Contractors entered into a contract with GEEP on 15 November 1981 to build an extension of a cold store in Kut, Iraq (the “Kut Contract”).

The Claimant states that several docks, warehouses and cold stores were assigned to the Allied Coalition Forces, and telephone lines were installed for ships carrying special equipment.

As most of the existing cold-store complexes are out of order, food commodities complementary to those of the food basket cannot be efficiently distributed countrywide at present.

The arrival of 62 cold chain trucks and 35 prefabricated cold stores should improve both the storage capacity at central and governorate warehouses, and the distribution of supplies.

The construction of six new cold and deep-freeze stores is under way, but the rehabilitation of existing facilities is delayed because of holds on spare parts for cold stores and refrigerating trucks.
