The introduction of oil presses

Oil pressed from rapeseed can be used as diesel fuel, andmaize or sugar beets can yield ethanol to replacegasoline.

PSA has launched a programme consisting of the introduction of oily varieties of groundnut and the use of an oil press for extracting cooking oil.

Small-scale irrigation pumps, animal traction equipment (ploughs and donkey carts) and processing equipment (grinding mills, oil presses) will be distributed during the remainder of 2004 to encourage labour-saving and income-generating activities.

Oil presses, flour mills, water sources such as wells and pumps, crops and vegetation and almost all household utensils were found scorched or smashed at the sites inspected by the Commission team.
