(b) The Government provides interim housing for evicted squatters, victims of domestic violence and families separated by divorce; and

(d) Article 153: “Marriage is modified by separation and dissolved by divorce”;

The provisions regarding separation and divorce by mutual agreement remain practically the same.

Separation or divorce by mutual agreement of the spouses may not be requested until one year has elapsed from the date of marriage”;

There are several divorce procedures: divorce on specific grounds, such as misconduct or a period of separation, and divorce by mutual consent.

The patriarchal principle in marriage, for example, has already been eliminated as early as 1992 when the Act was revised in favour of the principle of partnership, and, by making separation and divorce by mutual consent possible, the revision of 1999 has given still more weight to the principle of partnership.
