Under the Municipalities Act every eligible Jordanian over the age of 25 can stand for election to the position of head or a member of a municipal council. Voting age is 18 for both men and women.
واجاز قانون البلديات لكل أردني اكمل خمساً وعشرين سنة وتنطبق عليه الشروط ان يترشح رئيساً لمجلس البلدية أو عضواً فيها، وسن الانتخاب 18 سنة وينطبق ذلك على الذكر والأنثى .
In all municipalities, a team of staff, headed by a municipal administrator (equivalent of mayor) who oversees policy directives, interfaces with local structures and ensures the effective and non-discriminatory provision of services and will oversee the main substantive sectors of the municipality.
وفي جميع البلديات، سيتولى فريق برئاسة أحد المدراء (يعادل العمدة في وظيفته) ممن يشرفون على موجهات السياسات وتأمين الاتصال بين الهياكل المحلية وكفالة الفعالية وعدم التمييز في تقديم الخدمات، الإشراف على القطاعات الفنية الرئيسية في كل بلدية.
In Kosovo, although a quota system of 30 percent was introduced in the lists of candidates to be elected for central institutions, only 33 among the 120-member Parliament (27 percent) are women. While 28 percent of the municipal assemblies are comprised of women, only one of the 30 heads of the municipalities is a woman.
وفي كوسوفو على الرغم من اعتماد نظام حصص يقضي بتخصيص 30 في المائة من المقاعد للنساء في قوائم المرشحين للانتخاب في المؤسسات المركزية، فإن عدد النساء لا يزيد على 33 (27 في المائة) في البرلمان البالغ عدد أعضائه 120، في حين تشكل النساء 28 في المائة من المجالس البلدية، ولا توجد سوى امرأة واحدة ضمن رؤساء البلديات الثلاثين.
