The Noma Literacy Prize went to the Panuka Trust, Zambia.

The process operates at atmospheric pressure and temperatures between 180°C and 260°C (Sakai, Peter and Oono, 2001; Noma, Sakai and Oono, 2002; and Noma, Sakai and Oono, 2003a and 2003b).

Mengele experimented notjust on twins, but also on dwarves and prisoners with the form of gangrene of the face known as Noma, which was common in Birkenau because of the privations in which inmates were held.

There were four honourable mentions as well: the Fundación Alfabetizadora LAUBACH (Colombia), for the International Reading Association Award; the Ribat Al Fath Association for Sustainable Development (Morocco) for the Noma Prize; and the Youth and Adult Literacy and Education Chair, Latin American and Caribbean Pedagogic Institute, Cuba, and the National Guard Directorate of Educational and Cultural Affairs, Saudi Arabia, for the King Sejong Literacy Prizes.
