Among those projects were double stars and multiple systems, proper motion detection, identification of lost high proper-motion stars, a detailed census of open cluster members and recovery of natural satellites, minor planets and comets.

The country hosts the UNESCO Office in Rabat, which opened in 1991 a Cluster Office representing UNESCO in Algeria, the Libyan Arab Jamahiriya, Mauritania, Morocco and Tunisia.

The Organization will continue to support the new Convention on Cluster Munitions — opened for signature in Oslo in December 2008 — to achieve its early entry into force.
