Wahhabism is distinct in its destructive nature when religion is used by the state for political ends. Unlike other traditions that accommodate dissenting views, the Wahhabis claim to possess an undebatable vision of "true Islam."
إن الوهابية مُتميّزةُ في طبيعتِها التدميريةِ حيث يستعمل الدينِ من قبل الدولةِ من أجل مآرب سياسيةِ. وعلى خلاف التقاليدِ الأخرى التي تتسع لوجهاتِ نظر مُعَارِضَة، يَدّعي الوهابيون إمتِلاك رؤيةَ لـ"الإسلام الحقيقي" غير قابلة للنقاش.
Even if one disagrees with some of its implications, the main thrust of the following statement by the Secretary-General remains undebatable: “no legal principle - not even sovereignty - should ever be allowed to shield genocide, crimes against humanity and mass human suffering”.
وحتى إذا اعترض البعض على بعض تداعيات التصريح التالي للأمين العام للأمم المتحدة، فإن فحواه تظل غير قابلة للنقاش إذ يقول: "لا ينبغي السماح لأي مبدأ قانوني - حتى وإن كان مبدأ السيادة - بحماية مرتكبي الإبادة الجماعية والجرائم ضد الإنسانية وتبرير المعاناة الإنسانية الجماعية".
