In 2002, 7 books in Brail (Latvian literature, children's literature and reference literature) were published within the framework of public procurement.

Thus due to insufficient funding the intended provision of cultural institutions with audio guides and information in Brail has been postponed.

Priority was being given to children and adolescents in programmes such as “Fome Zero” -- “Zero Hunger”-- one of the fundamental policies of the President of Brail aimed at promoting measures for combating hunger and guaranteeing the people's food security through the application of a broad variety of initiatives that struck at the structural causes of poverty.

(e) Production of posters on children rights topics, namely right to healthy environment, right to free and compulsory education, right to development, right to play, in addition to a poster and cards outlining a simplified version of the Convention in Arabic, English and French languages as well as Brail for the blinds.
