On 9 December, an international NGO vehicle was taken at gunpoint near Azerni (Western Darfur), while, on 11 December, three international NGO vehicles were stolen at gunpoint near Muhajariya (Southern Darfur) by armed men on camelback.

As for the victims, they often refer to their attackers as Janjaweed, a derogatory term that normally designates “a man (a devil) with a gun on a horse”. However, in this case the term Janjaweed clearly refers to “militias of Arab tribes on horseback or camelback”.
ويشير الضحايا عادة إلى المعتدين عليهم باسم الجنجويد، وهو وصف مزر يقصد به عادة ”رجل (من الجان) يحمل بندقية ويمتطي صهوة جواد“، غير أن لفظة الجنجويد في هذه القضية تشير بوضوح إلى ”المليشيات من القبائل العربية الذين يمتطون ظهور الجياد أو الجمال“.
