Aerofoil wingsails have been tested on a seismic exploration vessel while under working conditions, with long seismic streamers in tow, and found, under typical North Sea conditions, that they saved more than 5 per cent of fuel consumption (see www.shadotec.com/0805_PressRelease_v2.pdf).
