• The Cuban firm COPEXTEL, also in the telephone sector, was unable to receive a complete and timely shipment of automatic transfer switches purchased through a third country. This equipment was for Cuba's hospital repair and modernization programme. Although the switches were purchased in 2005, five of them have not yet been received because, according to the supplier, they were confiscated at the port of Halifax, Canada, by agents of the United States Department of the Treasury on the assumption that they were destined for Cuba.
