For these historical reasons, the proper title of the Patriarchate, as recognized by all Christian institutions, is the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople.

وأكد البطريرك بارتوليموس أن لقب “البطريركية المسكونية للقسطنطينية” ليس بتاتا علامة على أي طموح سياسي، وإنما هو مجرد وصف للواجبات الدينية الملقاة على عاتق البطريركية، التي وإن كانت جغرافيا تقع في اسطنبول (والمعروفة باسم بطريركية الفنار إشارة إلى موقعها)، فهي تاريخيا تسمى بطريركية القسطنطينية.
