Interventions to implement this project will include: redesigning the runway; building drainage systems including side drains to allow flow of water during heavy storms and wave-overtopping; protecting the ocean side of the airport through the construction of protective walls; and increasing the surface thickness of the existing runway to withstand heavy rainfall.
